Start Here - Setting Up Confluence

Below are some details about getting Confluence set up so that you can get going.

You only need Confluence, but Scroll Versions, Scroll PDF and Gliffy are recommended add-ons.  You can try them for 30 days if you would like to see if you want to use them.

You will need to download Confluence from https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/download

Scroll versions can be downloaded from https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.k15t.scroll.scroll-versions

Scroll PDF can be downloaded from https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.k15t.scroll.scroll-pdf

Gliffy can be downloaded from https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.gliffy.integration.confluence

Microsoft SQL is our preferred platform.  If you already have SQL installed for another application you can probably use that instance.  SQL Express is also OK.

You simply create another database.  I usually call the database Confluence.  You do need to make sure the Collation for the database is set correctly or you will end up having to uninstall and reinstall Confluence at least once.  You also need to perform some other SQL items as outlined here https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Database+Setup+for+SQL+Server

The other item is to make sure that TCP/IP is enable for the SQL Instance (through SQL Server Configuration Manager).

Once Confluence is up the next step is the setup of the Documentation Toolkit.

If you need any assistance with any of the setup then let us know.  We would be happy to help.
